[see full message on AYBSA 12U Maroon Team Page] Hello 12U Maroon team, welcome to Spring Softball 2023!
I'm Stephanie Zawacki, your Team Manager. Although this will be my 8th Spring coaching youth softball, I learn something new every season about coaching and mentoring our players.
I love the game of softball. Before my HS freshman season, the varsity coach signed me up for a catcher's clinic. Learning to be a catcher made me love softball even more.
My earliest softball memories of are of picking dandelions in the outfield. My favorite memories are of stealing bases, bus rides with teammate to away games, beating throws to first for infield singles, defending home plate, end-of-season parties, and many years later, hanging out at Mike's Pizza in Davis Square after co-ed adult league games.
Since becoming a mom, I mostly coach rather than play, which is OK because I enjoy teaching these girls how to play the game and to be good teammates. I look forward to another fun and exciting Spring softball season journey together.
Our other Team Coaches:
Coach Aurora Connor and I started coaching together last Spring.
Coach Matt Kuklentz joined our team for MiddleEssex travel softball in the summer and into the fall.
Both are awesome and we're lucky to have them back as coaches this Spring :-)
A couple of TO DOs for YOU to help us get the season started:
- Take this short poll WITH your player, to answer a few questions for her to answer and some questions about schedule conflicts, etc. to help us coaches manage the season. https://forms.gle/MmnpefmM3bPXA6MHA
- Read this note from Coach Aurora (also AYBSA Softball Equiptment Manager) about the gear your player needs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18FV28wTQIQmUSGq9MEPUbKlxry-tGtXEvQIihPuC5kw/edit?usp=sharing
Ideally I'd like to get a practice in this coming Sunday, April 2. And if fields are available, Mondays and Wednesdays until games begin after April Break. The City-Town league would like to ideally schedule 12U games on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Stay tuned on schedule specifics to come.
Cheers, Coach Stephanie
