2023 Umpire registration for Minor leagues AAA

AYBSA is once again looking for 13+ year olds to serve as Umpires in our Minor League Program (AAA)  for the 2023 season. 

 
 
Umpires will get paid  $30 for approximately 2 hours of work and will be provided “umpire gear” including caps, shirts, clickers, and brushes.
 

ALL NEW UMPIRES need to attend a 2023 Orientation Meeting to be scheduled  - AND -  will need to REGISTER on the AYBSA site so we can communicate with you through the league emails.

Spring baseball is fast approaching!!

AAA evaluation is on 3/25 and younger age teams are being formed now. Be sure to register today!

 

AYBSA 

2023 Registration is Open. 

All Spring Baseball & Softball Programs.

 

To be eligible, children must live in the town of Arlington.  

The baseball program includes boys and girls ages 4 through 12 years old on April 30.  

The softball programs for girls ages 7 through 14 years old on January 1.

AYBSA Spring Programs

 

 

Baseball        Tee Ball    League ages 4- 6 

This Instructional League is intended to teach basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, and run bases) to small groups of boys and girls. The first half of each session is devoted to instruction. The second half of each session is used for game playing using a batting tee. Tee ball team’s practice/play on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 3:00PM to 4:30PM at various fields throughout the town. Rosters will be set around mid-April and the first session will be the first weekend of May and ends on Father's Day weekend in June.  Rosters are generally based on school districts. 

 

Baseball        Double A (AA)   League ages 6 & 7

This Instructional League further teaches basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, and run bases) to small groups of boys and girls.  Rosters will be set in the middle of April and practices will be scheduled soon after.  The season will start the first weekend of May and end late June.  Generally, there will be 2 games a week with one of them on the weekend.  Games start at 5:45PM during the week and various times on the weekend. 


Baseball      Eights (Pioneer)  League ages 8

This league is for Eight year olds that have already had at least one year in the AA league.  The purpose of the league is to be slightly more competitive than AA with more of the rules of the Major division.  This age group will participate in a tryout/evaluation late March.  After the try-out there will be a selection process to construct rosters base on talent and school district.  The rosters will be finished by early April and practices will begin soon after.  Games will start end of April and end late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM and various times on the weekend.

 

Baseball        Triple A (AAA) League ages 9 thru 12

The Triple-A league will consist of players league ages 9 through 12. The 10 through 12 year olds will participate in tryouts in conjunction with the Major league in fall . The 9 year olds will have a seperate tryout/evaluation in march/April .  After the Major draft the remaining 10 to 12 year olds will be drafted onto the Triple-A teams along with the 9 year old players. Players are required to attend a tryout/evaluation in order to be eligible for the draft. The number of teams in the Triple-A league will be determined by the number of players.  The rosters will be finished by early April and practices will begin in mid-April.  Games will start during the end of April and end in late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM or 7:45PM and weekends on Saturday morning or evening.

 

Baseball       Majors    League ages 10 thru 12

This age group consists of player league ages 10 through 12 only. New players will participate in a try-out in the fall  in order to be drafted onto one of the Major league teams. Players are required to attend the tryout in order to be eligible for the draft, no exceptions.   Players already on a Major league roster from the previous year do not need to tryout and are only required to register.  After the try-out there will be a draft to fill the Major league rosters.  The remaining 10 to 12 year olds not selected will be drafted on to the Triple-A teams in the Spring.  The rosters will be finished by the middle of March and practices will begin late March, early April.  Game will start end of April and end in late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM or 7:30PM and weekends in the early afternoon and evenings.

 

AYBSA GIRLS SOFTBALL

The softball program will play as part of a multi-town league.  There will be travel to local neighboring towns.  We anticipate travel to be in the range of 5-10 miles (10-20 minutes). Practices generally start April 1st (depending on weather and field conditions).  Game will start late April and end mid/late June.  Each age division will play at least 2 games a week.  Start times during the week will be between 5:45 to 6:15pm. The age divisions are as follows:

 

U14 Age Group 

Open to girls ages 13 &14.  This level, while recreational, is competitive and plays by full fast pitch rules with patched umpires officiating.   Depending on the number of players registered by mid-February, there may be a player tryout/assessment in order to finalize roster(s).

 

U12 Age Group 

Open to girls ages 11 & 12. This level, while competitive, continues to build on the skills and knowledge necessary to play the game. Players will pitch, there are some age specific rule modifications and patched umps will officiate.  Depending on the number of players registered by mid-February, there may be a player tryout/assessment in order to finalize roster(s).

 

U10 Age Group 

Open to girls ages 9 & 10.  Focus is developmental.  The season typically starts with coach pitch and progresses from there.  There will also be some age specific rule modifications.  Registration may be limited to ensure appropriate roster size.   

 

U8 Age Group 

This is our entry program for girls ages 7 & 8.  Focus is on fundamentals and fun.  Age specific rules will be used.  There will be one game and at least one practice a week.
